Kaine Daemon has lived, for the most part, a simpler life. Kaine’s father Amasar, and mother Orbei, are descended from the dissolved Xaelan tribe of the Malaguld. His parents both grew up nomads among the tribe, which had spent years after leaving the Steppe wandering the desert wastes into Northern Othard. After the Garlean invasion of Othard, the Malaguld then moved across the mountains into the Dravanian Forelands where they settled for a while in the forests near the Hundred Throes. The tribe was discovered by pressing Ishgardian forces in the area, and were hunted down, being chased across the Forelands and into the Highlands, where the remaining warriors among them were slaughtered, having been mistaken for Dravanian hybrids in the confusion of the war with the Dravanians. What few remained of their numbers took refuge beyond the ice wall during the great freeze of Coerthas and made it safely into Gridania, some traveling even further, dispersing what numbers were left completely.
Kaine’s parents boarded a ship for La Noscea, having found further hostilities towards them from the Wildwood Gridanians, and adopted the surname Daemon, discarding the tribal name of Malaguld. His mother was expecting him by the time they arrived in La Noscea and settled in Red Rooster Stead, his father taking up work as a fisherman at Moraby Drydocks and as a local guardsman as a lancer. Kaine greatly admired his father, and enjoyed learning what history that he could of the Steppe, determined one day to see it with his own eyes. He daydreamed often of the stories of the vast plains and the distant mountains and endless desert, and the fierce tribal warriors. Most everyone around him were Hyur or Roegaedyn, and he got teased somewhat for his horns, tail, and scales, but had no issues with his height by way of being outmatched by his Roegadyn peers. He often held his own in playful sparring matches.
**Kaine's adopted sister Reuvyia, who is 7 years younger than him, and the same age as his biological sister, joined his family when he was 13-14 years old, and she was 7. Her family, being of the scattered Kagon tribe, had been in hiding from Ishgardian forces and had also managed to cross to La Noscea, seeking refuge by hiding in pockets through the Iron Blind Mines, and had lived on the outskirts of Costa Del Sol for a short time. When the soldiers at Castrum Oriens started furthering their patrols as Garlemald continued its march across Eorzea, trickling in from all corners, her parents tried to flee as best they could. Kaine's mother had been working in the markets that day, as usual, selling woven wares and traditional Steppe foods to traveling adventurers, when she overheard Reuvyia's mother's distress as she saw them being chased across the fields outside of Red Rooster Stead, and she spied a small child between the two adult Au'ra as they ran. Looking at the small Au'ri child, clinging to her mother's skirt anxiously, she saw them hide the child amongst a set of haystacks and run, waving at them in acknowledgement of what they needed, and knowing that they still might not get very far as they continued running further towards the opposite coast, the soldiers not much farther behind them. Their only "crime" being that their horns and scales brought the Ishgardians confusion and concern of them being Dravanian hybrids and therefore heretics. Kaine's mother, Orbei, approached the scared, shaking child after they had passed, taking her back to their small hovel in Red Rooster Stead, in which there was hardly any objection to the Daemons now taking the child, Reuvyia, in as one of their own and raising her alongside Kaine and Marei. Kaine and Marei gained a new sister that day, though it took some time for the young Reuvyia to warm up to them, understandably saddened at the loss of her parents, as well as tired and bewildered at how suddenly her young life had now changed. She stayed with them, growing up alongside Kaine and his sister, training later in Limsa in the art of summoning and as a scholar, like her parents had both been, taking to her training well after Kaine had left for his own training, and helping as best as she could in several areas she took to with crafting.
**Shortly after this, the Garleans had pressed their way much farther into Eorzea, and his parents grew fearful, remembering what had happened with the Ishgardians before. Kaine had begun growing into his height by then and was joining his father now on guard rounds, and practicing with the lance. He regularly assisted Maelstrom troops at the Drydocks (he didn’t have to be asked twice which Grand Company he was joining when the Scions approached him about it later), and had plans to soon travel to Gridania to study at the Lancer’s guild. Garlean forces crossed into Eorzean borders on all fronts by the time he was nearly 16, and while the battle of Carteneau was being fought, Kaine and his father were called to Limsa with the rest of Maelstrom forces. During the battle, a small contingent of Garlean forces made an attempt at seizing the harbor of Limsa itself, and Kaine’s father was struck down in front of him. In an attempt to save his father, Kaine was struck across his head and knocked unconscious. When he came to, he was laying in a medical tent surrounded by the chaotic aftermath as conjurers and soldiers rushed around healing bodies and bringing others in for treatment, and removing those who had passed on. Kaine was devastated, to say the least. He heard a commotion from across the tent as he stood up to look around, and saw a young conjurer, dirty and drenched in blood, not of his own, screaming and casting blindly onto a young Elezen man who was at death's door, and noted that they shared similar faces, clearly family. He watched as the younger elezen folded in on himself and lost energy and will, shaking with sobs, and approached him, and for some reason, more likely desperation and despair, the elezen clung to him in that moment, reaching up and healing the wound on his face before passing out, completely spent. Kaine laid him on a bed next to his older brother and watched until he woke up again, and he learned that his name was Aristide Lorin. The two became fast friends following the Calamity, and Kaine introduced Aris to his remaining family, then joined him on his return home to Gridania, aiding him in giving news of his family’s death to his one remaining relative, his mother. Kaine stayed in Gridania from then on, traveling back to La Noscea often to visit his mother and sisters, who had chosen to remain in La Noscea, his mother and Marei being very rooted to the area, and Reuvyia choosing to study as an Summoner and Scholar, now having come more of age and showing great promise as a caster. He chose to stay in Gridania with Aris, who studied hard in the arcane arts and focused on his training as a healer, while he himself trained at the Lancers Guild. One day, while traveling back to Gridania from visiting his family, he had the strangest dream, his encounter with Hydaelyn, who named him a Warrior of Light. He was confused at first about this, until learning that Aris had experienced the same dream himself. It wasn’t until his second vision of Hydaelyn followed by his meeting with Yda and Papalymo that he began to understand what his title and mission might be.

Kaine and Arlyra met by virtue of their two friends Aris and Isika offering to meet up for a dungeon run one day, and the two fell head over heels for each other instantly. Kaine thought she was the prettiest, and sweetest Au'ri female he'd ever chanced to meet, in which he had not met too many other Au'ra before, as outside of Othard they are rather sparse, his own family being the only Au'ra in the area they lived in outside of Limsa, and the only other one's he'd met were always other, older adventurers, who would always tell him about the Steppe tribes and the rest of Othard. At first, Kaine thought Arlyra absolutely hated him, because she had avoided him entirely the entire first dungeon run they had together, and left immediately afterwards, and would never talk to him after that for the next several weeks every time they all met up again for more runs. It wasn't until after they'd started dating that he found out she had simply been so intensely shy and nervous about speaking to him that she was just in a state of panic instead and chose to run after the meetings instead of talking to him. Isika and Aris had a field day trying to help him ask her on their first date in fact, because she had panic-driven him on a chase across Limsa Lominsa when he tried, and he was only so determined to ask her out, that was all that kept him from giving up entirely. When he did finally ask her on a date, he was nervous as hell, and, as per his nature, fell over himself quite a bit, despite being such a large statured and thereby imposing creature by appearances alone (He's a surprise softie). Kaine absolutely adored Arlyra and his nervous shenanigans only served to make her fall for him even more. Arlyra was the more forward of the two of them, with Kaine being ever the perfect gentleman, they'd barely made it to second base before she settled for just jumping him completely one day, after having burst into his apartment. After this, Kaine moved in with her, and they shared her apartment for quite some. time. It was during this time that he went through the ordeal with Aris (--subnotes at the bottom of this--).Once Kaine and Aris had reconciled, Kaine asked for him to assist with a planned proposal to Arlyra. Aris helped him out and both helped him pick out an engagement ring for him to give her as well as blessed it for him. With all of their friends gathered, Kaine knelt before Arlyra in a full 3-piece suit (much to her bewilderment) and asked her to marry him at night underneath the shady boughs of the great tree in Central Shroud. Arlyra accepted, excitedly so, and before long they held the wedding. Kaine was never so elated in his life walking down the aisle next to Arlyra in her golden dress.Since their wedding, Kaine has proven himself to be a completely domesticated house-husband, and loves waking Arlyra up to full breakfasts and having dinner ready for her when she gets home. When he himself is not out adventuring with the Scions, he is perfectly content now acting as an Antecedent of sorts, handling paperwork and attending meetings, preferring them sometimes more than the adventuring, especially once they had children. When the twins Ai and Ivoux came along, Kaine all but hung up his lance for good, taking on the position of Antecedent for the Scions fulltime while Arlyra and their friends and fellow Scions continued on, answering the call as needed, and instead dedicating his time to their children. Currently he is still as much of a house-hubby as ever, and focuses on his duties as acting Antecedent, and with the kids' training. Ai, their daughter, has taken a great liking to the axe, idolizing her "aunt" Isika, much to Kaine's dismay. Ivoux on the other hand, has made his "uncle" Aris and aund Reuvyia proud, taking more naturally to the arcane arts and was so happy to summon his carbuncle for the first time.(((---In reference to the above concerning Kaine and Aris's relationship......During their mid to late teen years, before and shortly after they both became Warriors of Light, Aris had developed deep set feelings for Kaine (Kaine being the only person he had in his life he was close to, and those feelings manifested in every form possible, and he had latched onto those feelings in full, unfortunately for Aris), who found he could not return them romantically, though the both of them had an on/off relationship as lovers alongside their friendship. Kaine ceased the physical part of the relationship when Aris found his feelings to be too overwhelming, and he still could not return them in kind. Kaine for a short time, at the beginning of his adventures, had drifted from Aris as they both began their journeys as Warriors of Light, heading out in separate directions for a time, and he developed hard set feelings for Haurchefant. His relationship with Haurchefant lasted for his entire journey up until the tragic moment at the top of the Vault, and he had to separate himself from Ishgard as a whole for some time after facing Thordan, making it hard to assist with setting things straight in Ishgard. Aris came to him then, understanding of what Kaine was going through, and comforted him from still a distance, unable to both see his friend hurt and in such a state, and unable yet to approach him because he still held a torch for Kaine. Much later, Kaine and Aris had met Isika and began joining up with her on dungeon adventures, and it was here that they met Arlyra. Aris had been hoping that he could slowly work his way back into Kaine's heart after having given Kaine time to mend, and found instead that Kaine had now fully fallen for Arlyra, which created a rift once more between them for quite some time. Aris was mean to Arlyra at first which angered Kaine, and the two had a falling-out, which Arlyra helped to mend after seeking Aris out when Kaine could not find or reach him for weeks, which hurt him greatly. Aris confessed his reasons and feelings, and the two of them were able to mend their friendship. During this time, Aris had been introduced to Isika, whom he slowly fell head over heels for himself, which then became quite the complicated relationship for him, but has worked in both their favors since.---)))
